I decided to take a Mary Sue test for Kioku, the original-character youkai-of-the-day for my Saiyuki fanfic. The test can be found here: here

The Name

+ Is the character named after you (this includes your first, middle, and last names, and any nicknames or online names you use)? [20 points]
No.
0 points

+ Is the character's name an unusual spelling of a more common word or name? [3 points]
His name is Kioku, which is japanese for Memory. I've used the standard romanization, I believe.
0 points

+ Is the character's name a noun or adjective not normally used as a name? [2 points]
Yes, it's a noun. I've never seen it used as a name before.
2 points.

+ Does the character's name contain unnecessary hyphens, apostrophes, or other punctuation? (e.g. M'chelle, Gloria-Angelica, etc.) [4 points]
Nope, just letters.
0 points.

+ Does the character have more than one first, middle, or last name, without reason? [3 points]
He only has one name.
0 points.

+ Does the character have a name you really, really like? [1 point]
+ Is it Raven? [3 points]
+ Is it a variation of Raven? [1 point]
+ Is it Hunter? [5 points]

Yes, I like the name. No, it's not Raven, Hunter, or any variation thereof.
1 point.

+ Does the character's name describe her/his personality? (e.g. Tristan means sad, Darcy means dark, Charity means charity, etc.) [1 points]
Kioku means Memory, and he has the power to repress or extract them. Yes.

Birthdays:
The birthday present I sent my mom made it in time. *whew* And despite my fears, I had picked movies she doesn't have. *double whew* May has been an expensive month for me. June isn't going to be much better, with Mom's birthday and Father's Day, but at least I'll get something back for my birthday.

Caterpillars:
What is with this place and all the damned caterpillars? This is the second year in a row the campus has been infected with them. They're all over the place. I can't even walk to the main buildings from rez without stepping on half a dozen. A few days ago, I saw them all crowded on the very corner of the curb, too, like a damned caterpillar procesion.

Coles/Chapters/Indigo/Smithbooks:
My pre-ordered copy of the Slayers Novels, vol 3 is in! I'm going to pick it up when I go grocery shopping on Saturday. I think this next one will be where Amelia finally comes into the picture. I wish it'd hurry up and introduce Xelloss, already!

dA Posties:
itainohime bought me a 3-month sub to dA, and I immediately turned beta-testing on. One of the new features is this spiffy little code snippet generator you can put on your websites to show off various deviations. The bit I put up here shows off my pics with the most faves. Ain't it spiffy? Please give them a click to check them out.
